The Biden administration introducing sweeping changes to Title IX, expanding the definition of “sex” to include “gender identity.”
Essentially per the new set of rules, males identifying as women will be protected under federal law to use female locker rooms, play girls sports, and take advantage of opportunities like scholarships earmarked for females.
Title IX is a 1972 civil rights law that bans sex discrimination against students, employees and others at public schools, colleges and universities that receive federal funding.
Opponents of the move say Title Nine was "the landmark law written to give women equal opportunities and protections but now it is being weaponized against them.
Proponents say new Title IX rules will increase protections for LGBTQ+ students and change how schools handle cases of campus sexual assault.
