President Joe Biden has formed the "Presidential Records Transition Task Force" following a special counsel report that found he had willfully kept such material after he was Vice President and U.S. Senator.

The task force will address the inadvertent removal of classified documents and to help prevent it from happening in the future during presidential transitions, according to the White House.

White House Counsel Office spokesman Ian Sams says, “President Biden fully cooperated and returned the documents that were found, and it was concluded that there was no case. Now he is taking action to help strengthen future transitions to better prevent classified documents from being accidentally packed up and removed from the government, like we have seen with officials from every administration for decades.”

White House officials admit that the handling of classified records is a systemic issue that has affected past administrations of both parties.
