Elections were held in a dozen Palm Beach County municipalities yesterday. Here are the results:

A new mayor has been elected in Boynton Beach, where Rebecca Shelton fended off three other candidates, capturing 56 percent of the vote to replace Ty Penserga.

In the race for the City Commission, District 3 race, incumbent Thomas Turkin wins another term. He defeated challenger Dominick Vargas 58 to 42 percent.

Incumbent District 1 Commissioner Angela Cruz ran unopposed.

Three races in Jupiter, where incumbent Mayor Jim Kuretski got 56 percent of the vote over his challenger, Town Councilmember Cameron May.

Phyllis Choy is leading the race for the open First District seat but with 44 percent of the vote, is headed to a runoff against the second highest vote-getter, Teri Grooms with 40 percent.

Second District incumbent Malise Sundstrom wins reelection with 52 percent of the vote.

Lake Park voters re-elected Town Commissioners Michael Hensley and Judith Thomas, while replacing incumbents Kimberly Glas-Castro and Mary Beth Taylor with John Linden and Michael O'Rourke. There were six names on the ballot and voters chose their four preferences. The four candidates with the most votes won.

In Lake Worth Beach, incumbent City Commissioner Christopher McVoy wins re-election to his seat in District 2. He captured 57 percent of the vote against Carla Blockson.

Two candidates will be heading to a runoff in the race for District 4. Anthony Segrich and Greg Richter are the top two vote-getters over incumbent Commissioner Reinaldo Diaz.

In Lantana, Jesse Rivero wins the Group 1 Town Council race over incumbent Lynn Moorhouse by a margin of 59 to 41 percent.

In Loxahatchee Groves, Paul Coleman wins the race for Seat 4 with 64 percent of the vote, beating two candidates.

James H. Scott wins the race for Pahokee Commission Group 1, with 55 percent of the vote over incumbent Clara "Tasha" Murvin.

Two races in Palm Beach Gardens...

Incumbent Councilmember Marcie Tinsley wins reelection to her Group 2 seat, fending off a challenge from Scott Gillow by margin of 85 to 15 percent.

In the race for the open seat in Group 4, John "Scott" Kemp defeats Charles "Chuck" Millar, with 55 percent of the vote.

In Riviera Beach, there were two City Council races.

Bruce Guyton defeated incumbent Tradrick McCoy in District 1 and incumbent Shirley Lanier defeated challenger Cedrick Thomas in District 3.

In Royal Palm Beach, Interim Mayor Jeff Hmara is being reelected to the seat by the voters. He got 58 percent, defeating Village Council member Selena Samios and newcomer Justin K. Plaza.

Sylvia Sharps and Steve Avila lead the race for the Group 3 open seat. They'll head to a runoff in two weeks.

Voters in the Village of Golf voted Yes to the following Charter amendments:

The first one dealing with the number of Council members.

The second provides that a vacancy will be filled at the end of the term of office of such vacancy.

The third one says that if there are fewer than three members of the Council who are eligible to vote due to a vacancy or lawful abstention, then the remaining member or members may approve the matter by unanimous vote.

In Highland Beach, voters approved moving forward with spending $3.5 million for two public safety projects. The money will help create a police and fire rescue marina unit docking facility at Town Hall and to rehabilitate the town's fire station and apparatus bays.

Voters overwhelmingly approved a ballot question in Loxahatchee Groves. They want Palm Beach County’s Canvassing Board to serve as the town's canvassing board during municipal elections to save money.
