Palm Coast, FL - Federal aviation officials have determined that a massive block of ice that smashed through the roof of a Palm Coast home on February 3rd did not come from an airplane.
The six-foot-by-three-foot chunk of ice tore through the home’s metal roof, landing inside the living space.
Given its size and the way it fell, initial concerns suggested it may have originated from an aircraft, prompting an investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
According to an FAA spokesperson, investigators reviewed flights operating in the area at the time and contacted airlines to inspect their planes.
The results found no evidence of water leaks or ice accumulation that could have led to the ice falling from an aircraft.
With the aviation link ruled out, the ice block’s origins remain unknown.
The FAA has not provided further details, leaving the incident a mystery.
Similar cases of unexplained falling ice have been reported in the past, but experts have yet to determine a definitive cause.
