A large brush fire is sending smoke into the air in Southwest Miami-Dade.
The blaze, which broke out on Wednesday, is located off 117th Avenue and Southwest 344th Street... between the Homestead-Miami Speedway and Turkey Point Nuclear Power plant.
"Currently we have 700 acres at 60% containment, " said Florida Forest Service Senior Forester Michelle Danielson. She adds South Florida is very dry right now, which can allow a brush fire to spread easily.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue is assisting forestry by using an air rescue helicopter for water drops along with fighting the blaze from the ground.
So far, no structures are in danger.
