We're learning more about the murder of an off-duty Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy along the 1400 block of Northwest Avenue D.
PBSO says Corrections Deputy Basil Powell was targeted and ambushed while returning home last night in Belle Glade. As he exited his vehicle, he was immediately fired upon.
This incident is not related to his role as a Corrections Deputy.
39 year old Deputy Powell was assigned to the West Corrections Center, having been hired by the agency in October 2021.
