There are now several potential buyers for an old race track in South Florida.

The Palm Beach International Raceway first opened in 1964 but closed for good in 2022 after it was purchased by a developer who wanted to turn it into warehouses. Plans changed and now it's up for sale again and racing enthusiasts are hoping for a bright future.

One of the interested buyers is Erik Bentley, CEO of the RPM Group.

"This was a very instrumental part of my life growing up as an enthusiast and then as I moved into the business as a professional it became even more so. I always loved cars first and foremost, it's in my blood, I loved hot rodding, I loved cars, I loved going fast."

He tells CBS 12 News that the community needs a place for organized racing to keep people from doing it in the streets.

Bentley plans to make a competitive offer for the land along the Beeline Highway west of Jupiter within the next couple of weeks.

Other interested buyers include South Georgia Motor Sports Park, which posted their interest on social media.
