Dog Fight In Fort Lauderdale Ends In Gunfire, Injuring Woman and Pet

Fort Lauderdale, FL - A confrontation between two dogs on Fort Lauderdale Beach escalated into a shooting, resulting in injuries to a woman and her dog.

According to police reports, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Friday along the 1100 block of Seabreeze Boulevard.

Authorities stated that two dogs began fighting when one of the owners allegedly drew a firearm and shot the other dog.

The girlfriend of the injured dog's owner was also struck by the gunfire.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots during the altercation.

One witness described seeing a woman walking with two dogs when another man approached with his dog, leading to the confrontation.

The witness noted that the man's dog appeared to be off-leash, though police have not confirmed whether any of the dogs were leashed at the time.

Emergency responders transported the injured woman to Broward Health Medical Center, where officials indicated she is expected to recover.

The wounded dog was taken to the Veterinary Emergency Group in Fort Lauderdale and is reported to be in stable condition after surgery.

In Broward County, local ordinances mandate that dogs must be kept on a leash or confined within a fenced area when outside their owner's property.Violations can result in fines or other penalties.
