Miami-Dade, FL - A woman remains in custody after being arrested for accidentally shooting her 15-year-old daughter during an altercation at a McDonald's in northwest Miami-Dade on Friday night.
According to Miami-Dade Police, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. at the fast food restaurant located at 9250 NW 7th Avenue in northwest Miami-Dade.
Authorities say an altercation began when the woman became upset with a group of individuals, mistakenly believing one of them was pointing at her.
Investigators say the person was actually gesturing outside to signal that their Lyft ride had arrived.
Police say the woman pointed a firearm at the group, threatening to shoot and kill them.
The confrontation escalated, spilling over to the group's Lyft vehicle, where the woman allegedly reached inside to physically assault a minor passenger.
As the Lyft drove away, a gunshot rang out, striking the woman's teenage daughter in the shoulder.
The victim was transported to Ryder Trauma Center and is in stable condition.
The woman told police the firearm accidentally discharged after falling from her waistband, but investigators have charged her with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor battery, and culpable negligence.
A judge issued a $22,000 bond and ordered the suspect to stay away from all victims involved in Fridayās shooting.
An investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
