Dover, FL - A routine traffic stop unraveled a string of burglaries and led to the recovery of $50,000 in stolen silver coins, bars, and firearms.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies apprehended the 34-year-old suspect, a 10-time convicted felon recently released from prison in August, after observing a traffic violation on Wednesday, November 13th.

During the search of his vehicle, investigators discovered heavy bags filled with silver coins and bars.

The investigation revealed that the items were stolen during at least two burglaries, including one on Nov. 8 at a Dover residence.

"Three firearms were reported stolen from the home," the sheriff's office stated. Detectives later determined that some of the stolen silver came from an unreported burglary in Hillsborough County, contacting the elderly victim who had been out of town during the crime.

A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence uncovered two of the three stolen firearms, along with additional coins and silver bars.

The suspect now faces multiple charges, including:

  • Armed burglary of a dwelling
  • Burglary of an unoccupied conveyance
  • Felon in possession of a firearm
  • Three counts of grand theft of a firearm
  • Grand theft
  • Grand theft second degree
  • Dealing in stolen property
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
