The body of a Fort Pierce woman has been found in West Melbourne.
The Brevard County Sheriff's Office says 20-year old Aniya Sheppard had been shot and left to die along a rural road. They describe her as the likely the target of the violent attack but have not shared any suspect information.
Sheppard had been known to travel to Brevard from her home in Fort Pierce, where her mother says getting the news was "indescribable."
"She was just a giving person. She had a beautiful heart."
Katina Sheppard tells CBS 12 News that Aniya leaves behind four other siblings.
