Hillsborough County, FL - Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister and a deputy rescued a 14-year-old boy who was stranded on a fence in rising floodwaters in Hurricane Milton's aftermath.

The teen, whose name has not been released, had evacuated to a friend's house nearby but underestimated the depth of the floodwaters.

When the teen attempted to walk back home, he found himself trapped in the rapidly rising floodwaters.

Sheriff Chronister and the deputy, responding to multiple distress calls in the area, spotted the teen clinging to the fence and rescued him.

The teen managed to wade towards the boat, and the sheriff and deputy grabbed the teen and pulled him onboard.

They then transported him to dry land, where he could continue his journey home.

The neighborhood where the rescue occurred was not an evacuation zone but experienced severe flooding, underscoring the unpredictable nature of the storm's impact.
