Florida Sheriff's Deputy Seriously Injured In Tanker Truck Crash

Spring Hill, FL - A Florida sheriff's deputy sustained serious injuries after colliding with a tanker truck in Spring Hill on Tuesday morning.

Authorities say a Pinellas County deputy was driving a marked patrol SUV eastbound on Hudson Avenue when he struck a propane truck that was backing across the road.

The impact caused the deputy's vehicle to become lodged under the tanker trailer.

Pasco Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene and extracted Dellechiaie from the wreckage.

The deputy was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital Trauma Center with severe head injuries.

As of Tuesday morning, his condition is listed as stable.

The deputy, who has been with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office since 2019, is currently assigned to the Patrol Operations Bureau.

He and his wife have four children.

The driver of the propane truck, a 60-year-old Spring Hill resident, was unharmed.

Hudson Avenue is expected to remain closed for several hours as fire crews work to safely dispose of a small amount of spilled propane.
