Miami, FL - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) renamed its Regional Operation Center in honor of Special Agent Jose Perez, who died in the line of duty in 2022.

FDLE held a ceremony on Thursday to honor Special Agent Jose Perez.

During the event, the FDLE's Regional Operation Center was officially renamed in honor of Agent Perez.

Agent Perez was killed when a pickup truck crashed into his unmarked FDLE vehicle while responding to an on-call incident in Miami.

He was trapped in his car and later rushed to the hospital, where he fought for his life for more than 17 days before passing away.

As a retired marine and former assistant police chief in Miami, Agent Perez served both the South Florida community and the country.
