While the Florida Department of Environmental Protection says it has withdrawn a proposal to build three golf courses at Jonathan Dickinson State Park, a local congressman still wants the community to gather over the issue.

Representative Brian Mast posted to Facebook a letter he sent to Shawn Hamilton, the DEP secretary, inviting him to a rally in Stuart Tuesday.

The agency had postponed a meeting at The Flagler venue. He wants Hamilton to show up so those against the initial idea could get some answers including what is the status of the project.

We have learned that a group called the Tuskegee Foundation withdrew the plan after the community uproar.
