Fort Lauderdale Postal Worker Arrested For Stealing And Selling Mail

Fort Lauderdale, FL - A U.S. Postal Service letter carrier has been arrested for allegedly stealing mail and selling it on the streets of Fort Lauderdale.

According to reports, 31-year-old Joey Pierre-Toussaint was apprehended on Monday following a surveillance operation conducted by postal inspectors.

Investigators began looking into Pierre-Toussaint after a series of debit card thefts were reported in the Margate area.

Hidden cameras installed in his mail truck captured him stealing mail on multiple occasions.

When confronted by authorities, Pierre-Toussaint attempted to flee but crashed his vehicle. 

Investigators recovered stolen mail from both the vehicle and a nearby location where he had hidden it.

Pierre-Toussaint admitted to stealing mail for the past two years and selling it to others. 

He is facing federal charges and is currently in custody.
