Priest Accused of Sexual Assault and Child Pornography To Appear in Court

Immokalee, FL - An Immokalee Catholic priest has been arrested for possessing child pornography and committing sexual assault, with multiple women coming forward with similar allegations.

The Waco Police Department in Texas reported that in March, allegations were made against 55-year-old Anthony Okoneffiong Odiong for a sexual assault that took place in 2012 within their jurisdiction.

Odion served as a priest at St. Peters Catholic Student Center in Waco, Texas, and St. Mary’s of the Assumption in West, Texas, from 2007 to 2012.

Authorities from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshal’s Service executed an arrest warrant at his residence in Immokalee on Tuesday.

During the investigation, law enforcement uncovered evidence of child pornography, leading to Odion's arrest in Ave Maria.

He is currently held in Collier County jail, awaiting extradition to Texas.

The investigation revealed that multiple women had come forward, sharing similar experiences to the initial sexual assault survivor.

These allegations ranged from sexual assault to indecent assault, such as groping.

At this time, there is no evidence to suggest any alleged victims in Collier County.

Odion is scheduled to appear in court at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
