Pembroke Pines & Broward School District In Funding Feud

A funding dispute between the city of Pembroke Pines and the Broward School district means some school resource officers may be replaced by armed guards. School Board member Dr. Allen Zeman says the state gives them about fifty cents on the dollar to staff SRO's, and they simply don't have the money in the budget to cover the entire cost. The switch would make Charles Flanagan and West Broward High Schools the only upper schools in Broward without SRO's. Superintendent Howard Hepburn is meeting with city leaders tomorrow to try and resolve the issue.
