New Smyrna, FL - A 21-year-old Ohio man was treated for a shark bite on Thursday after being attacked near Flagler Avenue in New Smyrna Beach.
According to Volusia County Beach Safety (VCBS), the man was playing football in shallow water around 4:00 p.m. when he was bitten by a shark on his right foot.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities say his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Officials have not yet released details about the type of shark involved in Thursday's attack.
