Investigations are underway after a civilian's death during a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue training exercise. Miami-Dade Police homicide and the State Fire Marshall 's office is looking into Friday's accident.

Fabian Camero,28, was killed after the fire in Virginia Gardens at a home on Northwest 36th Street. He is the son of Miami-Dade firefighter instructor Francisco Camero.

The probe will include a review of protocols and practices. The department has not commented on whether Fabian Camero was authorized to be there, and if so, by whom or what safety protocols were in place at the time of Friday's training..

In 2003, fire officials were disciplined after a a recruit's death during training.

The department is supposed to adhere to the National Fire Protection Association 1403 standard which states:

Standard on Live Fire Training Evolutions

NFPA 1403 provides minimum requirements for conducting live fire training to ensure they are conducted in safe facilities and a safe manner for participants.

WIOD has acquired a copy of a memo sent from MDFR Chief Ray Jadallah:
