A former Vero Beach cop has been arrested for tampering with evidence after allegedly dumping over 20 grams of marijuana into a dumpster.
31-year old Christian Butterfield resigned from the Vero Beach Police Department after an internal investigation stemming from a June 1st traffic stop.
Body-cam video shows the officer finding the drugs, but then letting the driver and an underage passenger go instead of arresting them for potential felonies.
Investigators say he then took the marijuana to a dumpster at the police station and threw it out.
