Martin County, FL - The Martin County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a 33-year-old man who purchased a mask at a gas station and then robbed a bank across the street.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Colton Vanhonhenstien was captured on surveillance video purchasing a mask at a gas station near US 1 in Hobe Sound on Saturday.

Shortly after, Vanhonhenstien entered a nearby Wells Fargo bank which was closed but unlocked.

Security footage captured Vanhonhenstien inside the closed bank, but the footage revealed he didn't take any money from the property.

The bank's alarm system eventually triggered, though a one-hour delay by the monitoring company meant deputies arrived after Vanhonhenstien had left.

Authorities were able to identify and apprehend Vanhonhenstien using security footage from the bank.

He has been charged with burglary.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office is investigating why the bank was unlocked and the reason for the delay in the alarm company's response.
