South Florida Celebrates Juneteenth

South Florida is celebrating Juneteenth with local events marking the official emancipation of the last group of enslaved people in the U-S. Retha Boone-Fye with Miami-Dade's Black Affairs Advisory Board says there's a party this weekend at Historic Virginia Key Beach where she went to swim as a young girl. Miami-Dade opened the beach as a segregated park for people of color in 1945. It became a hub for Black South Florida’s social, cultural, and political life.
