South Florida Scooter Rider Arrested for Punching Senior Citizen

Miami-Dade, FL - A Miami-Dade man faces felony charges after a violent road rage incident that left an elderly victim injured.

33-year-old Christopher Acevedo, from West Kendall, was arrested on Friday in connection with the May 22nd attack.

According to police reports, the incident occurred at a red light on Red Road and Sunset Drive.

The 69-year-old victim reported that Acevedo, riding a scooter, approached his car and began banging on the window.

When the victim lowered the window, police say Acevedo punched him repeatedly in the face.

The victim attempted to defend himself by opening the car door, but the attack continued, resulting in injuries that required medical attention.

Acevedo fled the scene, but the victim was able to provide police with his license plate number, leading to his identification.

He later turned himself in and was charged with felony battery on a person 65 or older.

A judge found probable cause for the charge, and Acevedo was released on a $2,500 bond.

This is not Acevedo's first brush with the law.

Court records show a previous arrest in 2009 for misdemeanor battery and resisting arrest, although those charges were dismissed after he completed a pre-trial diversion program.
