Former Children’s Hospital Nurse Facing Child Exploitation Charges

Fort Lauderdale, FL - A man employed as a nurse at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital faced charges in Fort Lauderdale federal court last week following his arrest on multiple counts related to child exploitation.

Rami Rotlewicz, 34, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals after FBI agents, in conjunction with local authorities, raided his residence in Plantation last May.

According to federal authorities, Rotlewicz allegedly engaged in online conversations with undercover agents posing as mothers, allegedly seeking to sexually abuse their daughters.

He is accused of possessing over 300 files containing child sexual abuse material.

The investigation began when Rotlewicz, using the online handle “noguys,” responded to an ad posted by an undercover investigator on Whisper.

The ad, seeking information about the openness of families, prompted Rotlewicz to reply with disturbing messages, including a photo of an infant and discussions about his purported interest in becoming a paternal figure to an 11-year-old girl.

However, authorities assert that Rotlewicz’s intentions were far from paternal, alleging that he planned to sexually assault the child.

Using the handle “Ram Rod,” he reportedly communicated graphic details and discussed arrangements to fly the girl and her mother to Fort Lauderdale.

After a hiatus in communication, Rotlewicz resumed contact in April 2023 under the alias “Nite Nurse,” engaging with an investigator who posed as a foster mother of a 13-year-old in Miami.

The conversations escalated to explicit descriptions of sexual acts he purportedly intended to commit.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Rotlewicz’s residence on May 8, seizing his cellphone which reportedly contained a significant amount of child sexual abuse material.

The FBI confirmed their involvement in the raid alongside local authorities.

Rotlewicz remains in custody at Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail, facing charges including receipt and possession of child pornography, as well as attempted enticement of a minor.

He is scheduled for a pre-trial detention hearing and subsequent arraignment in Fort Lauderdale federal court.

Memorial Healthcare System, where Rotlewicz previously worked, issued a statement describing the allegations as deeply disturbing and confirmed his former employment at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.

They emphasized no evidence suggesting illegal activities occurred at the hospital.

Rotlewicz’s defense attorney, Jude Faccidomo, emphasized that a criminal complaint does not constitute evidence and expressed intent to challenge the allegations, noting no indication of direct interaction with minors according to government claims.
