Duo Busted for Attempted Theft of Makeup Isle at North Naples Target

Naples, FL - Two men face grand theft charges after a an attempt to steal an entire makeup isle at a North Naples Target last week.

The incident left local shoppers scratching their heads. "Makeup? It's just so strange," said Naples resident Andrea Salazar. "You hear about people stealing shoes or food, but makeup? And men at that?"

Salazar, a five-year resident of the area, expressed frustration with the prevalence of shoplifting at local Targets. 

She recalled witnessing a similar theft at a Target on Pine Ridge Road, where a suspect fled in broad daylight.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office (CCSO), Rodriguez and Del Toro Galan allegedly cleared an entire aisle of skincare products and attempted to make an unsanctioned exit. 

When confronted by officers, Rodriguez is accused of pushing one away.

The suspects then reportedly abandoned their shopping cart full of pilfered potions and lotions, fleeing the scene in a gray Nissan sedan. 

CCSO deputies apprehended the duo while they were northbound on I-75. 

Notably, Del Toro Galan had an outstanding larceny warrant from Sarasota County.

"Our swift-acting deputies and detectives deserve major credit," said Sheriff Kevin Rambosk. "Their efforts stopped a pair of apparent serial thieves who came to Collier County with the clear intention of committing a crime."
