The Palm Beach Zoo has settled on a name for a baby sloth.

After taking votes from the public for several weeks, the name "Fern" has been chosen for the name of Wilbur's first born.

She gave birth back in January, but the baby went without a name until now. Because the sex of a sloth is undetermined early due to their slow maturation process and the fact that the sexual organs are internal, the zoo had chosen five gender-neutral names for the public to vote on.

Fern was the name of the human protagonist in "Charlotte's Web" which features a pig named Wilbur.

If you want to see Wilbur or Fern the sloths, the Palm Beach Zoo offers free admission to children from now through the month of July.
