South Florida Scooter Rider Tracks Stolen Phone to Find Robbery Suspect

Miami, FL - A scooter rider was attacked and robbed of his phone in Miami-Dade on Tuesday.

The victim, a 36-year-old man, was approaching a red light near Southwest 185th Street and US 1 when two individuals approached him from behind.

According to police, 36-year-old Eric Lee, one of the suspects, allegedly pushed the victim off his scooter.

The victim sustained a head injury in the fall but attempted to stop Lee from taking the scooter.

A struggle ensued, with both Lee and the victim reportedly falling to the ground.

Lee allegedly stole the victim's phone during the altercation and attempted to flee.

The victim managed to grab Lee's shirt, but the second suspect, who remains unidentified, pulled the victim back, allowing Lee to escape.

The victim used a phone tracking app to locate his stolen phone and, with the help of a witness, found Lee at a bus stop, and another physical altercation occurred before police intervened.

Lee was arrested on charges of attempted robbery, grand theft, and battery.

Police are currently searching for the second suspect.

Lee is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
