WATCH: Parkland School Massacre Building Being Demolished

Update: 6/14 8:30a

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High alum and current Congressman Jared Moskowitz says this about the demolition:

“Our community was forever changed by the tragedy that occurred here on February 14, 2018. I never thought I’d see the high school where I graduated from turned into a war zone. What I’ve seen in that building is truly haunting – windows with bullet holes, homework scattered everywhere, blood in the hallway. The people of Parkland will no longer have to pass by this horrific reminder of our grief. The families of those innocent lives taken that day will never be able to move on, just move forward."

Six years after the massacre, it's demolition day at the twelve hundred building at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Tony Montalto, who lost his 14-year-old daughter Gina in the massacre, says it's a conflicting time for the families. Relatives of the victims have been invited to come and hammer off a piece of the bloodstained building if they want it. The three-story building, where seventeen people died, served as evidence in the gunman's trial. No word yet on what the building will be replaced with.
