Miami Man Arrested After Threatening Ex-Girlfriend with Power Tool

Miami, FL - A South Florida man has been arrested for an April attack on his ex-girlfriend where he allegedly threatened his ex with a construction drill.

According to police, the assault occurred during the early morning hours of April 10th at the ex-couple's former residence.

The victim, who had recently ended their two-year relationship, went to the home to collect her belongings.

An argument ensued, and the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Elier Magdiel Barillas Blanco, allegedly threw a drink at the victim, soaking her hair.

The situation escalated when Blanco demanded the victim's phone, which she refused to surrender.

Police say Blanco then retrieved a construction drill, activated it with a threatening rev of the motor, and approached the victim brandishing the tool just inches from her head.

Frightened, the victim relented and handed over her phone.

Blanco then took the phone outside and proceeded to destroy it by throwing it on the ground.

The victim grabbed her damaged phone and fled to her car.

Blanco pursued her and vented his rage by kicking off the driver's side mirror.

The victim escaped unharmed and immediately contacted the police.

Blanco was taken into custody on charges of armed robbery, criminal mischief, and domestic violence battery.
