The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a Palm Tran passenger who was run over by a bus.
Investigators say 34-year old Denis Onyshchenko had been picked up Tuesday morning by a Palm Tran bus near Military Trail and Purdy Lane, but the driver says he appeared to be "out of it."
Deputies say the man entered and exited the bus multiple times as it made other stops and he got off one final time at South Military Trail and Melaleuca Lane. That's when Onyshchenko bent down in front of the rear right tire, until the the bus drove over his head.
There were no other injuries involved.
Palm Tran says they are "extremely saddened concerning the accident" and are cooperating with PBSO as they continue their own internal investigation.
