Branford, FL - A Florida man saved by rescuers after getting lost in the woods has been arrested on drug charges and a probation violation after deputies discovered he had an active warrant for his arrest and methamphetamine in his possession.
A search and rescue mission for a lost man in the woods took a surprising turn when deputies discovered the man had an active warrant and methamphetamine in his possession when he was located.
Authorities say 43-year-old James Robert Lombardi reportedly contacted authorities on Saturday morning after getting disoriented while in the woods near Branford Greenway Trail in Brandford.
A joint effort by the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office, Lafayette County Sheriff's Office, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission located Lombardi within an hour.
However, a background check of Lombardi revealed an active arrest warrant for violating probation.
Additionally, deputies searched Lombardi while taking him into custody and discovered a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine.
Lombardi was arrested on charges of violating probation, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana exceeding 20 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
