Heading into the long Memorial Day weekend, Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw says he's not overly concerned about safety issues...

"We have the normal problems that we have on any of the holidays that is kind of like an outdoor adventure or people get involved in boating and everything."

The sheriff tells me that he understands people are going to have a couple of drinks here and there, but...

"We just encourage people to drink responsibly, drive responsibly, boat responsibly because we'll be out there on the water checking to make sure that everybody is doing things the right way."

PBSO's Marine unit will be working, along with Florida Fish and Wildlife officers to watch for people operating boats while under the influence. And Bradshaw's deputies will be on the roadways with a focus on drunk driving.

"We will target some areas that we know are usually the places where if it's going to be a problem then we'll ramp up a little bit."

The Sheriff says it's all about making sure everyone gets through the holiday weekend safely.

"We want people to have a great time and remember what the day is all about."
