Law enforcement will be watching for drunk drivers this Memorial Day weekend, but what happens when sworn officers are arrested for DUI?

"You're gonna go to classes, school and things like that. But you keep your job. You don't lose your job because you got a DUI. It's not an ending career incident."

Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association President John Kazanjian tells CBS 12 News that unpaid suspension is a typical punishment for a first-time offender.

That was the case for a Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy and Captain who were both charged in separate DUI incidents while off-duty.

"Everybody deserves a second chance."

But Kazanjian says if it happens again, they lose their state certification to work in law enforcement and then would be dismissed.

"You definitely will lose your job. Not like you might lose it, you will lose your job."

However, an official with Mothers Against Drunk Driving says they're calling for a "zero-tolerance" policy.

PBSO says many factors are taken into account when determining disciplinary action.
