A Democratic campaign official believes her arrest in Miami is a case of bullying. Vanessa Brito was arrested Tuesday at a fundraiser in Wynwood.
She's running Democrat Phil Ehr's campaign for congress against Republican incumbent Carlos Gimenez, but the fundraiser was for another candidate who's running in Tampa Bay.
The arrest dates back to a bench warrant issued six years ago after Brito skipped a court date for a shoplifting arrest at a Miami Target. Police say they learned Brito was at Tuesday's event from an anonymous 911 call.
Brito says she took a break from politics to take care of her mother, and now she regrets coming back.
