Registered Sex Offender Arrested For Florida Laundromat Attack & Rape

Sunrise, FL - A registered sex offender is facing serious charges following a violent attack at a local laundromat.

Marquise Perry Grant, 34, of Sunrise, was arrested on Monday after police responded to a report of a sexual assault in progress at Sudzies of Sunrise, located at 6165 W. Sunrise Blvd.

According to authorities, Grant entered the laundromat and approached a woman. 

Police reports indicate he retrieved a shotgun-style pellet gun from a duffel bag and threatened the victim, forcing her to leave the business.

Fearing for her safety, the woman complied with Grant's demands. 

However, when she requested to collect her belongings from her car, Grant allegedly grabbed her and took her to a secluded alleyway behind the laundromat. 

There, police say,he proceeded to sexually assault her.

Responding officers reportedly arrived at the scene to find Grant still assaulting the victim. 

He fled on foot but was apprehended after a brief chase. 

Evidence recovered from the scene suggests a struggle occurred during the attack.

Grant, who is listed on Florida's sex offender registry due to a 2014 conviction in Wyoming, is currently being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail.

 He faces charges of armed sexual battery, kidnapping, committing a felony with a weapon, and resisting arrest.

The Sunrise Police Department is urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward.
