Ocala, FL - The principal of a Christian elementary school in Ocala has been arrested for allegedly abusing a student.
Dontay Akeem Prophet, the principal of Destiny Leadership Academy in Ocala, Florida, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly abusing a student.
The 33-year-old faces charges of aggravated child abuse and false imprisonment of a minor.
According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, an investigation into a reported physical altercation led them to security footage from the principal's classroom.
The video reportedly shows Prophet restraining the student for over 40 minutes, using a cable to strike the child, and employing other physical abuse tactics.
Authorities maintain that Prophet's claims of trying to prevent self-harm are contradicted by the evidence.
Prophet is currently in custody without bond.
Destiny Leadership Academy, a private Christian school, has not yet commented on the incident.
