(Virginia Key, FL) - The Miami Seaquarium’s doors stayed open yesterday, the day it was supposed to shut down for good per an eviction notice from the county.
But the Dolphin Company continues to fight the possible eviction from Miami-Dade County.
Protesters gathered outside calling for the Seaquarium to close to save the animals that reside there.
The Seaquarium has been accused of animal neglect.
Miami-Dade County officials haven't said what they'll do next but may serve the Seaquarium a final eviction notice to vacate within seven days.
And as of late last night, there were no signs that the Seaquarium was taking steps to vacate the premises.
And Juliet the 3000 pound, 65-year-old manatee who was transferred to the Tampa Zoo from the Miami Seaquarium back in December for urgent medical attention has died.
ZooTampa said a necropsy will be performed on the manatee.
