Attempted Home Burglary Leads to Police Chase and Arrests in Miami-Dade

Miami-Dade County, FL - A homeowner with a gun scared off masked burglars who stole cash from a car in Miami-Dade, leading to a police chase and the arrest of three suspects.

The three men were arrested on Thursday following a failed burglary attempt at a residence in northwest Miami-Dade County.

According to police, the suspects arrived at the home on Southwest 83rd Court in a Dodge Charger.

Two men exited the vehicle, jumped a fence, and targeted several parked cars at the residence.

Surveillance footage captured 18-year-old Payton Pierre attempting to enter a black Rolls Royce, but the theft was thwarted by the vehicle's locked doors.

The video also captured 20-year-old Kamari Jackson successfully entering an unlocked Jeep Wrangler and stealing an undisclosed amount of cash.

An armed homeowner, who had rented a Volkswagen SUV parked at the residence, witnessed the suspects and confronted them.

Fearing for his safety, the homeowner fired a single shot into the ground after one suspect reached for his pocket.

Both suspects fled back over the fence and escaped in the Dodge Charger.

The getaway vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Kenneth Ervin, was spotted by police heading north on the Palmetto Expressway.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers successfully stopped the vehicle and apprehended all three suspects.

Pierre, Jackson, and Ervin were arrested on charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling while masked and burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.
