Florida Amputee Threatens Family Over Dispute Regarding Money

Marion County, FL - A Florida amputee was arrested after threatening to beat up a family member during a dispute over money.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, a woman called 911 after her 26-year-old nephew, Algenis Vladimir Diaz, became aggressive during a family gathering.

The dispute reportedly stemmed from a recent amputation and Diaz's belief that his family should be financially supporting him.

The situation worsened when Diaz allegedly threatened to ram his car into his aunt's vehicle and detonate it.

A second family member attempted to mediate, but the argument continued outside, with Diaz clenching his fists in a threatening manner.

Deputies arrived on the scene and spoke with Diaz, who admitted to making the threats.

He justified his actions by claiming such behavior is acceptable in his former home state of New York.

Diaz also allegedly threatened to physically assault the victim once he obtained his prosthetic leg.

Diaz was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of simple assault and booked into the Marion County Jail.
