Miami Man Arrested Following Fatal Fight With Roommate Over $1

Miami, FL - A Miami man is facing second-degree murder charges following a fatal fight with his roommate over a dollar.

Authorities say 36-year-old Brandon Carlos Grant was arrested on Friday on a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of his roommate.

According to reports, Miami police responded to a call of a possible fight at an apartment building on Northwest 77th Street shortly after 5 a.m. Friday morning.

Officers arriving at the scene found Grant outside the building, lying on the sidewalk with blood on his clothing.

Upon questioning, Grant expressed difficulty breathing and requested water.

Police confirmed Grant's residency at the building and entered his apartment, where they discovered his roommate unresponsive, leaning on a couch.

The victim, whose name has not been released, exhibited signs of facial trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami Fire Rescue.

During an interview with detectives, Grant confessed to becoming enraged when the victim refused to give him a dollar.

He admitted to a physical struggle and the victim's pleas for him to stop due to fear of death.

Grant is currently being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
