Miami-Dade Police Department Receives Protective Enhancement Gear (PEG)

Miami-Dade Police now the first department in the country to have Protective Enhancement Gear. Detective Andre Martin says it lightweight, flexible and can protect officers from blunt force trauma and stabbings. He says the gear is also modular, meaning officers can wear certain pieces of it depending on where they're being deployed. The equipment comes from Israel and uses advanced cyber security technology. About eighty members of the rapid deployment team will use it.
