Davie, FL - Authorities have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with a disturbing case of animal cruelty that occurred at a South Florida cow pasture last year.

Investigators say the caretakers of a Davie cow pasture discovered a decapitated calf lying in a field with a bloody machete abandoned nearby last October.

Crime scene investigators collected DNA from the machete, which matched the profile of the suspect, identified as Curry O'Meally.

Additionally, a witness reported seeing a suspicious individual whose profile matched O’Meally’s with a machete in the area.

The investigation took a further turn when the Broward Sheriff's Office apprehended O'Meally with a bagged baby cow head one day later.

O'Meally told investigators the severed head was for religious purposes.

O'Meally’s arrest warrant alleges that he used a machete to inflict injuries on the calf's legs and spine before decapitating it.

He was arrested last week and charged with animal cruelty and trespassing.

O'Meally is currently in custody in Marion County.
