The son of Tiger Woods falls short in his bid to compete in his first PGA Tour event.

15-year old Charlie Woods took part in a pre-qualifier for next week's Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches.

He shot a 16-over-par 86 at Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound on Thursday, which dashed his hopes of being one of the top 5 and ties from that event to advance to Monday's qualifier in Port St. Lucie.

Four players from the qualifier will earn spots in the Cognizant, which is the new name for the Honda Classic at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens.

Had he made it to the tournament, Charlie wouldn't have been the youngest golfer to play in a PGA event, but he would have been younger than his father, who was 16 when he debuted.

The two have competed together at the past four PNC Championships.
