Tallahassee, FL - A Tallahassee was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges related to methamphetamine trafficking.

Chason Michael Miles Johnson, a 30-year-old resident of Tallahassee, Florida, faces over a decade behind bars after pleading guilty to federal charges related to methamphetamine trafficking.

The Department of Justice announced his 13-year prison sentence, stemming from his involvement in a scheme to receive and distribute large quantities of the drug.

Johnson's criminal history played a part in his case. He had previously served a five-year sentence for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and trafficking meth, meaning he was legally prohibited from possessing firearms.

However, upon his release from prison in March 2022, he allegedly began receiving packages containing methamphetamine through the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Authorities became aware of the operation after intercepting two suspicious packages addressed to Johnson.

One package contained a significant amount, half a pound, of methamphetamine.

The other held an even larger quantity, weighing in at one pound.

This triggered further investigation, leading to a search warrant being issued for Johnson's residence on August 24, 2022.

The search uncovered not only over an ounce of methamphetamine but also other controlled substances and, notably, a firearm. As a convicted felon, Johnson was strictly forbidden from possessing any firearms, adding an additional layer of charges to his case.

With mounting evidence against him, Johnson opted to plead guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.

This ultimately resulted in his sentencing to 13 years in federal prison.
