Man Arrested for Groping Woman at South Florida Hospital

Miami-Dade, FL - Authorities say a 37-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly groping a woman at a South Florida hospital.

Miami-Dade police arrested Andrew Serrano in connection with an alleged battery incident at the Baptist Hospital campus in southwest Miami-Dade.

Police say Serrano is not currently linked to an ongoing investigation into a "serial groper" that is reportedly targeting women in the area.

Serrano was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge after an incident on Wednesday evening around 7:30 p.m.

According to police, a female victim was walking along a pathway near a lake when Serrano, who was sitting nearby, approached her.

After initially passing her, Serrano allegedly turned around, ran towards victim, and grabbed the woman's buttocks.

The victim screamed causing Serrano to flee the scene when a bystander came to her aid.

Police located Serrano at a nearby bus stop and took him into custody.

He was initially held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center but was released on his own recognizance.

Authorities emphasize that while this arrest stems from a separate incident, the investigation into a "serial groping" suspect remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about these or similar incidents are urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
