The first ever Jupiter Fire Chief starts his job on Monday.
60-year old Darrel Donatto was hired earlier this month to head up the Jupiter Fire Rescue Department, which is expected to launch in October of 2026.
He's in charge of hiring personnel and putting together the agency.
The town decided to stop using the services of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, despite many residents fighting that move. They've filed a lawsuit to have the issue put on a ballot.
Donatto will also be in charge of leading the design and building of two fire stations at an estimated cost of $68 million.
