(Miami, Fla) - Air traffic through South Florida’s airports is backing up for third day in a row. According to the FAA, seasonal volume is being compounded by bad weather.

FAA spokesman Wayne Hubbard says delays are expected for travelers trying to get in and out of South Florida airports and he advises that you check your flight status before heading to the airport and get airport updates at http://fly.faa.gov.

The FAA's Wayne Hubbard says expect congested conditions in the Florida region, down to the Caribbean, Mexico and back again.

He adds that airport congestion should improve as the day progresses and storms associated with a cold front move through.

Hubbard says stormy weather and already increased air traffic volume may affect flights at PBIA, FLL and MIA.

Currently MIA is experiencing a 45-minute departure delay due to a backup of multiple planes on the taxiway.
