The Board of Governors for the Florida University System says FAU will have to restart its presidential search, but not just yet.

The Board of Governors met on Thursday to decide what happens next in the search for a new president of Florida Atlantic University.

The search was suspended last summer when the state inspector general's report noted that the chairman of the university's Board of Trustees and the school's biggest donor broke the law. At the time, there were three finalists.

The Board of Governors says that before FAU can get started again, it wants to make changes to its regulations on how college presidential searches are conducted.

The Board will meet in late January to discuss those new regulations.
