Today's the day to open your heart and wallet because most Miami-based non-profit organizations consider this the most important fundraising day of the year.
It's the 12th annual Give Miami Day.
The Miami Foundation is hosting the simultaneous fundraiser for more than 1,000, fully vetted, Miami-based non-profits.
President and CEO Rebecca Fishman Lipsey says, "We produce this for the entire community and for all non-profits at no-cost to them."
Thanks to an anonymous donor, the first $25 of every donation will be matched all day long. There will be additional match opportunities for categories including the arts, education and health.
Her goal is to receive more than 100,000 donations today, "but most important to me is that everybody in Miami, whether you can give $25 or $25,000, that today is your day to show up and stand unified."
Last year alone, more than 80,000 donations were made, raising more than $30-million.
Since Give Miami Day's inception, more than $145-million in donations have been generated.
